The Government announced in the "2021-2022 Budget" to provide HK$1 billion funding and in partnership with the Urban Renewal Authority ("URA") to implement the "Building Drainage System Repair Subsidy Scheme" ("Subsidy Scheme") which provides technical and financial support to owners of domestic units of aged private residential or composite buildings with a relatively low average annual rateable value and assists them to conduct investigation, repair, rectification and/or improvement works for drains of the buildings. The Subsidy Scheme has been commenced since 1 May 2021.
The Subsidy Scheme subsidises 80% of the total cost for investigation and repair of drain-related works, subject to a cap depending on the number of domestic units in a building.
