Prescribed registered contractors should only undertake the minor works for which they are registered.
Both prescribed building professionals (PBP) and prescribed registered contractors (PRC) should comply with the relevant statutory and safety requirements in carrying out minor works.
They also have the responsibility to provide accurate advice to building owners concerning the works:
- Classification of the minor works to be conducted.
- Types of contractor that have to be engaged.
PBP and PRC are vested with legal responsibilities under the BO and the subsidiary regulations to supervise, carry out and certify all the completed minor works are structurally safe.
Upon receipt of the minor works submissions, random audit check will be carried out and the BD may consider taking appropriate enforcement action against non-compliant works and instigating prosecution and/ or disciplinary action against the persons contravening the statutory requirements.
